Tips to Staying Safe from Covid-19 | Automated Hand Sanitiser

As February comes to a close, the words coronavirus or covid-19 must be synonymous to all. While this virus has a lower facility rate than Sars, its highly contagious nature is a cause of worry. However, if you commute daily by public transportation, there is still no reason to worry if you practice good hygiene.

Here are some tips:

  • Avoid crowded places and to stay home if you’re feeling unwell. It is important to note that this does not require you to stay home 24/7 but to simply avoid excessive contact with others.

  • To avoid consumption of raw or undercooked food. According to WHO, the virus can still be present under normal cooking temperatures. Reducing consumption of raw food, prevents the risk of cross contamination.

  • See a doctor if you are feeling unwell. Avoid going to work, school or crowded places if you have a cold, fever or flu. If you’re feeling unwell, visit a Polyclinic or general practitioner (GP) clinics. Starting Tuesday, February 18, 900 GPs have been activated as Public Health Preparedness Clinics (PHPCs) o care for patients with respiratory symptoms in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. Additionally, do remember to wear a surgical mask if you are unwell.

  • Practice good personal hygiene. This is especially important when you are travelling on public transportation. If you are having a flu or coughing, it is best to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue. You should then dispose of the tissue as soon as possible. Secondly, you should wash your hands regularly and throughly with soap. Also, avoid handshake greeting for this period and reduce hand contact to your face, eyes and nose whenever possible.
